What was the thinking behind that switch? Last June you changed your name to Ember Moon. Starting all over again, but ready to do it.Īt first after signing with WWE in September 2015 you wrestled under the name Adrienne Reese. I overcame the rejection and I'm here making a name for myself. That's just how it is and how the business works. I won't let people beat me down because out there it's a dog-eat-dog world, one day you can be on top of it, and the next people can forget what you've done. It made me appreciate myself and have faith in myself as a fighter and that has stuck with me to his day - I just don't take no for an answer. Sometimes I drove 14 hours to work for a soda and a hot dog, but through all the hard times you have to find positives, and the one major positive I found is that it really did make me fall in love with everything I do in and out of the ring. I'm super pumped and excited to be in NXT but it was a long journey. I travelled the world learning every style, learning from anyone and everyone, just getting as much knowledge as I could. So I used the three 'no's and basically made them say 'yes'. So long story short - because I could really talk for years about this - after almost a decade on the indies, three try-outs later, my fourth try-out, I actually got a yes. I got to Canada, went to Mexico, going back and forth because I lived in Texas and worked for small companies there, and then in 2008 I had my first try-out with WWE. After that I started travelling all over the United States, I hooked up with companies like Shimmer Woman Athletes and Ring of Honor. After that I proceeded to train with former WWE Superstar Lance Archer, a lot of people might know him as Lance Hoyt, and then ultimately found my way to Booker T, and Rodney Mack and Jazz. I actually started in a storage unit in 2007 with him! He taught me the basics and kind of the fundamentals of a lot of stuff going on, in and out of the ring. It was a long journey! I started wrestling in 2007 and was initially trained by General Skandor Akbar, a World Class Championship Wrestling famous wrestler and manager. Can you tell us a little bit about your path into this business? I think that it was an awesome response, which is why we chose to come back this year.įor those who aren't familiar with your work, you initially made a big name for yourself on the American independent scene. We got to watch it back and the crowd was just electric, it was so insane, that not only did we draw our NXT fans, we introduced so many new people into our home and they got to see what we do. Yeah I remember seeing footage from last year when Bayley was there and Carmella and a lot of those ladies. The shows at Download last year were very special, because you had a rock crowd, some of whom perhaps weren't familiar with NXT, and then the hardcore WWE faithful, who came specifically to see NXT. We're ready to just blow the roof off the place! I'm really happy to get this opportunity to come and see you guys. I've never been to the UK so this is just super exciting for me. The stars of NXT are heading back to the UK this June, with four arena dates ahead of a return to Download Festival.
